The use of simulators for training in the medical fields has proven to be a useful tool for the acquisition of the required skills in varied medical contexts, and also in the planning of surgical procedures of high complexity. A very useful type of simulators are the virtual laboratories, which have proven their advantages in various learning stages both in undergraduate as graduate levels, particularly in those cases where the interaction with living beings is expensive, can cause damages to the involved subjects or violates ethical principles.
Integrating virtual laboratories with patient simulators and other specialised surgical devices might not only improve the technical and scientific capabilities required for an adequate clinical operation, but will also allow the permanent update of devices and techniques in varied medical practices and a higher expertise of the medical specialists, facing an internationalisation process. Simultaneously, this project facilitates the transition towards the innovative design of new tools which linked to the product chain, facilitates the creation of local technological enterprises and propulses the commercialisation of a variety of products and services.
Mobile application for training in cardiovascular and respiratory physiology. The application consists of two sections, one for cardio and other for respiratory physiology. The application can simulate the behavior in time of the most relevant variables of these systems when the system is subjected to various physical and pathological conditions.
